Meridian Credit Union
Meridian Credit Union is Ontario's largest credit union and one of the largest in Canada — a member-owned financial cooperative headquartered in St. Catharines and Toronto, serving more than 365,000 members with roughly CAD $31 billion in assets under management, over 2,200 employees, and more than 75 years of history. Formed in 2005 through the merger of Niagara Credit Union and HEPCOE Credit Union, Meridian offers personal, business, and wealth banking and owns Meridian OneCap Credit Corp. (commercial equipment leasing and financing); it previously operated the federally chartered digital bank motusbank, which was wound down in 2023. As a provincially regulated Ontario credit union — overseen by the Financial Services Regulatory Authority of Ontario (FSRA), with member deposits insured under Ontario's credit-union deposit-insurance scheme — Meridian is a cooperative, not a Schedule I or Schedule II bank. It publishes no first-party public developer API and no downloadable OpenAPI specification. Consumer-permissioned account-data access today is aggregator-mediated rather than first-party: Plaid maintains a Meridian institution connector, and the Central 1 / Flinks Outbound seam provides API-based data sharing for member credit unions. Canada's federal Consumer-Driven Banking framework (legislated in 2024 with the Financial Consumer Agency of Canada / FCAC as overseer) is not yet operational, so Meridian's open-finance participation remains voluntary and aggregator-based.
Index entry only — little beyond a description and a link, and nothing machine-readable enough for an agent to act on without a human reading the site first.
API Evangelist profiles Meridian Credit Union the way a machine reads it — 1 machine-readable artifact, pulled from the provider's own public surface and indexed so a developer, an analyst, or an AI agent can evaluate it against every other provider on the network.
Every provider in the network is reduced to the same set of machine-readable artifacts — OpenAPI contracts, event specifications, GraphQL schemas, runnable collections, pricing and rate-limit signals, security posture, OAuth scopes, and the agent surfaces (MCP servers and skills) that let software drive the API on its own. We profile them because the interface is the part of a company you can actually inspect: it is a truer signal of what a provider does than any marketing page. From those artifacts we compute the Kin Score — Meridian Credit Union scores 14.6/100 (minimal), with a separate agent-readiness read of 0/100 (human only). The full breakdown is below, followed by every artifact we hold — each card links through to its machine-readable definition on apis.io.
Kin Score
This is the API Evangelist rating — a single, repeatable read computed from the artifacts on this page. Green fill is points earned; the red track is points possible, so every bar shows earned-versus-possible at a glance.

Security Posture 1
Authentication, domain security, vulnerability disclosure, and trust-center signals — the evidence that a provider takes security seriously enough to document it. We profile it because you can't govern what you can't see.
