TAE Technologies
TAE Technologies (formerly Tri Alpha Energy) is a Foothill Ranch, California fusion energy company founded in 1998, pursuing commercial fusion power using aneutronic hydrogen-boron (p-B11) fuel in an advanced beam-driven field-reversed configuration (FRC). Because the p-B11 reaction is aneutronic, TAE's approach produces virtually no neutron flux or on-site radioactive waste compared with conventional deuterium-tritium concepts. The company has built a progression of plasma machines — Sewer Pipe, CBFR-SPS, C-2, C-2U, and C-2W ("Norman") — and is constructing Copernicus in Irvine, California to demonstrate net energy gain, with Da Vinci planned as the grid-connected power-plant demonstration. TAE has raised more than USD 1.2 billion from investors including Google, Chevron, NEA, Goldman Sachs, Vulcan, Venrock, Wellcome Trust, and the Kuwait Investment Authority, and runs research collaborations with Japan's National Institute for Fusion Science (NIFS). Two operating subsidiaries commercialize spin-off technology: TAE Life Sciences develops accelerator-based Boron Neutron Capture Therapy (BNCT) systems for cancer treatment, and TAE Power Solutions builds modular, software-controlled power-management systems for e-mobility and battery applications. TAE is a private hardware and deep-science company; it does not publish a developer API, SDK, OpenAPI specification, or public open-source code repository.
