Three UK

Three UK (Hutchison 3G UK Limited, Reading, England) is a United Kingdom mobile network operator that launched in 2003 as the country's first 3G-only carrier and grew into a consumer and business mobile, 5G, and home broadband provider, also operating the SMARTY sub-brand. Since 31 May 2025 Three UK has been a wholly owned subsidiary of VodafoneThree, the merged Vodafone UK / Three UK joint venture that is 51% Vodafone Group and 49% CK Hutchison Holdings, serving roughly 27 million UK customers. In the telecom value chain Three UK is a network owner and access provider, not a developer platform: it sells connectivity, spectrum-backed coverage, wholesale and MVNO capacity, and business connectivity, while its group-level enterprise, IoT, private-network and wholesale propositions are marketed through CK Hutchison's CKH IOD and Three Group Solutions. Its API posture is partner-gated and sales-led. Three UK publishes no public developer portal, no self-serve signup, no downloadable OpenAPI, no SDKs, and no public Postman workspace; every candidate developer hostname (developer, developers, docs, apis, sandbox, opengateway) resolves only to a wildcard Akamai record whose certificate does not cover it, and the Wayback Machine holds no snapshot of a Three UK developer portal ever existing. Three UK is nonetheless a real participant in the sector's standards layer: it is named in the CAMARA Project's governance participants list, its parent CK Hutchison Holdings is listed as an Operator in the CAMARA landscape, and on 23 September 2025 CK Hutchison Group Telecom (Three) commercially launched CAMARA KYC Age Verification and KYC Tenure network APIs alongside BT/EE, Virgin Media O2, and Vodafone under GSMA Open Gateway, on top of an already-available SIM Swap API, with KYC Match committed. Those APIs are reachable only through channel partners and aggregators — JT Group and TMT.ID are named as processing UK operator network API traffic, and Three UK's majority owner Vodafone Group is a founding venture partner in Aduna — never through a Three UK developer surface.

More than an index entry, but the surface is still mostly links rather than artifacts — the cohort most likely to move a full band from modest, well-targeted work.

Kin Score

API Evangelist profiles Three UK the way a machine reads it — 1 machine-readable artifact, pulled from the provider's own public surface and indexed so a developer, an analyst, or an AI agent can evaluate it against every other provider on the network.

Every provider in the network is reduced to the same set of machine-readable artifacts — OpenAPI contracts, event specifications, GraphQL schemas, runnable collections, pricing and rate-limit signals, security posture, OAuth scopes, and the agent surfaces (MCP servers and skills) that let software drive the API on its own. We profile them because the interface is the part of a company you can actually inspect: it is a truer signal of what a provider does than any marketing page. From those artifacts we compute the Kin Score — Three UK scores 20.4/100 (emerging), with a separate agent-readiness read of 0/100 (human only). The full breakdown is below, followed by every artifact we hold — each card links through to its machine-readable definition on apis.io.

Kin Score

This is the API Evangelist rating — a single, repeatable read computed from the artifacts on this page. Green fill is points earned; the red track is points possible, so every bar shows earned-versus-possible at a glance. Every facet and dimension name is a link: it opens that measurement's page on APIs.io, where the rating runs across the whole catalog — the exact checks that feed it, how every profiled provider distributes on it, and who is at the top of it.

Where this information came from

This is an independent, third-party profile of Three UK, published by API Evangelist. We do not operate, host, resell, or support these APIs, and we are not affiliated with or endorsed by the company unless stated above. Everything here is built from publicly available information — the company's own site, developer portal, documentation, public repositories, and the specifications it publishes for public use. Nothing is obtained by breaching a system, defeating an access control, or using credentials.

The Kin Score and Agent Readiness rating are independently calculated assessments of a company's public API artifacts, scored against a published rubric. They are not certifications, endorsements, security assessments, or audits.

Corrections, re-scores, and removal are free — no partnership or purchase required, and you do not need to justify the request. A removed company is recorded as unrated, never scored zero for having asked. Acknowledgement within one business day; removal within two.
