Version One Ventures

Version One Ventures is an early-stage venture capital firm founded in July 2012 by Boris Wertz and headquartered in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada, with a partner presence in San Francisco. Run by founding partner Boris Wertz and general partner Angela Tran, the firm backs mission-driven founders who are early in new areas, writing pre-seed and seed checks where it typically leads or co-leads rounds in the roughly $500K-$1.5M range. Version One invests across marketplaces, SaaS, fintech and crypto, AI and automation, robotics and physical AI, deep tech, biology and health, and emerging-market ecosystems including India and Africa. Over more than a decade the firm has grown into a franchise of six funds and backed 100+ companies, with an early-stage track record that includes Coinbase (2021 NASDAQ direct listing), Uniswap, Dapper Labs, Ada, Jobber, Top Hat, and Shippo. In June 2026 the firm closed Version One Fund V ($78M) alongside Opportunities Fund III ($30M) for $108M in combined new capital.

Version One Ventures is tracked in the API Evangelist network. This page is the human-readable profile that sits on top of the machine-readable index we maintain at apis.io.

Every provider in the network is reduced to the same set of machine-readable artifacts — OpenAPI contracts, event specifications, GraphQL schemas, runnable collections, pricing and rate-limit signals, security posture, OAuth scopes, and the agent surfaces (MCP servers and skills) that let software drive the API on its own. We profile them because the interface is the part of a company you can actually inspect: it is a truer signal of what a provider does than any marketing page. The full breakdown is below, followed by every artifact we hold — each card links through to its machine-readable definition on apis.io.

Version One Ventures is in the network as a tracked entity. We haven't yet indexed a public API surface for it — when one is published, the artifacts, score, and agent-readiness read will appear here automatically. The source repository is where that profile is built.
