Virgin Money UK

Virgin Money UK is a full-service UK retail and business bank, operating the Virgin Money, Clydesdale Bank, Yorkshire Bank, and B brands across personal current and savings accounts, mortgages, credit cards, and business banking. Formerly the FTSE-listed Virgin Money UK PLC (the former CYBG plc), it was acquired by Nationwide Building Society on 1 October 2024, making it part of a mutually owned group; its banking business is scheduled to transfer into Nationwide on 2 April 2026. The bank is authorised by the Prudential Regulation Authority and regulated by the FCA and PRA as an ASPSP. It is not one of the original CMA9 but is a fully participating UK Open Banking provider under PSD2 and the Payment Services Regulations 2017, publishing OBIE Read/Write Standard APIs - Account & Transaction Information (AIS), Payment Initiation (PIS), and Confirmation of Funds (CBPII) - through its developer portal at developer.virginmoney.com, split into "Merged" APIs (Virgin Money, Clydesdale and Yorkshire accounts, sort codes 05/82) and "Standalone" APIs (personal accounts and credit cards, sort code 08). Access is secured with FAPI-grade OAuth2/OpenID Connect, PSD2 strong customer authentication, mutual-TLS client authentication, and dynamic client registration using OBIE (OBWAC/OBSeal) or eIDAS (QWAC/QSEAL) certificates.

agent native

Limited machine-readable signal and partial portal coverage — documentation a human can read, but little a machine or agent can consume without scraping.

Kin Score

API Evangelist profiles Virgin Money UK the way a machine reads it — 17 machine-readable artifacts across 12 APIs, pulled from the provider's own public surface and indexed so a developer, an analyst, or an AI agent can evaluate it against every other provider on the network.

Every provider in the network is reduced to the same set of machine-readable artifacts — OpenAPI contracts, event specifications, GraphQL schemas, runnable collections, pricing and rate-limit signals, security posture, OAuth scopes, and the agent surfaces (MCP servers and skills) that let software drive the API on its own. We profile them because the interface is the part of a company you can actually inspect: it is a truer signal of what a provider does than any marketing page. From those artifacts we compute the Kin Score — Virgin Money UK scores 42.1/100 (thin), with a separate agent-readiness read of 69/100 (agent native). The full breakdown is below, followed by every artifact we hold — each card links through to its machine-readable definition on apis.io.

Kin Score

This is the API Evangelist rating — a single, repeatable read computed from the artifacts on this page. Green fill is points earned; the red track is points possible, so every bar shows earned-versus-possible at a glance.

APIs 12

Each API is captured as its own OpenAPI definition — every operation, parameter, and response. This is the single most useful machine-readable description of what an API does, and it's what lets us score, lint, mock, and generate against it without asking the provider for anything.
