Tata Communications

Tata Communications is the global wholesale carrier and digital-infrastructure arm of India's Tata Group, headquartered in Mumbai. It owns one of the world's largest subsea cable networks, carries a large share of global internet routes, and sells international voice and messaging wholesale, IZO network services, MOVE global IoT and eSIM connectivity, MVNE services, and — through its October 2023 acquisition of Kaleyra — a full CPaaS, UCaaS, and CCaaS stack. It sits in the supply layer of the telecom value chain: a carrier's carrier whose customers are mostly other operators, enterprises, and aggregators rather than individual developers. Its API posture matches that position and is honestly partner-gated. Tata Communications runs a real first-party developer portal at developer.tatacommunications.com, built on Akana Community Manager, whose catalogue names 49 APIs — but only three are marked Public and return a downloadable Swagger 2.0 document to an anonymous caller; the other forty-six answer 401. MOVE IoT has a second, separate Azure API Management portal that lists three API products but gates the reference behind sign-in. The DIGO CPaaS documentation site is HTML-only, sales-gated behind a "we will get in touch" form, and was serving an expired TLS certificate at the time of review. No CAMARA network API and no GSMA Open Gateway participation could be evidenced anywhere on its properties. In practice most developers reach Tata Communications through the separately branded Kaleyra CPaaS portal rather than through Tata Communications itself.

Kin Score

API Evangelist profiles Tata Communications the way a machine reads it — 17 machine-readable artifacts across 3 APIs, pulled from the provider's own public surface and indexed so a developer, an analyst, or an AI agent can evaluate it against every other provider on the network.

Every provider in the network is reduced to the same set of machine-readable artifacts — OpenAPI contracts, event specifications, GraphQL schemas, runnable collections, pricing and rate-limit signals, security posture, OAuth scopes, and the agent surfaces (MCP servers and skills) that let software drive the API on its own. We profile them because the interface is the part of a company you can actually inspect: it is a truer signal of what a provider does than any marketing page. From those artifacts we compute the Kin Score — Tata Communications scores 47.8/100 (developing), with a separate agent-readiness read of 30/100 (agent ready). The full breakdown is below, followed by every artifact we hold — each card links through to its machine-readable definition on apis.io.

Kin Score

This is the API Evangelist rating — a single, repeatable read computed from the artifacts on this page. Green fill is points earned; the red track is points possible, so every bar shows earned-versus-possible at a glance. Every facet and dimension name is a link: it opens that measurement's page on APIs.io, where the rating runs across the whole catalog — the exact checks that feed it, how every profiled provider distributes on it, and who is at the top of it.

How we profile Tata Communications

Each block below is one kind of artifact we hold for Tata Communications. For each we say what it is and why it earns a place in the profile, then list every one we've indexed — capped at two rows, scroll within the panel for the rest.

APIs 9

Each API is captured as its own OpenAPI definition — every operation, parameter, and response. This is the single most useful machine-readable description of what an API does, and it's what lets us score, lint, mock, and generate against it without asking the provider for anything.

Individual APIs this provider publishes, each with its own machine-readable definition.

Event Specifications 1

Not every API is request/response. AsyncAPI describes the event-driven and streaming side — the webhooks and channels — so the asynchronous half of the interface is documented the same way the synchronous half is.

Security Posture 3

Authentication, domain security, vulnerability disclosure, and trust-center signals — the evidence that a provider takes security seriously enough to document it. We profile it because you can't govern what you can't see.

Agentic Access 1

An x-agentic-access contract marks which operations are safe for an agent to run on its own and which need a human in the loop. It is the difference between an API an agent can use and one it can use safely.

Where this information came from

This is an independent, third-party profile of Tata Communications, published by API Evangelist. We do not operate, host, resell, or support these APIs, and we are not affiliated with or endorsed by the company unless stated above. Everything here is built from publicly available information — the company's own site, developer portal, documentation, public repositories, and the specifications it publishes for public use. Nothing is obtained by breaching a system, defeating an access control, or using credentials.

The Kin Score and Agent Readiness rating are independently calculated assessments of a company's public API artifacts, scored against a published rubric. They are not certifications, endorsements, security assessments, or audits.

Corrections, re-scores, and removal are free — no partnership or purchase required, and you do not need to justify the request. A removed company is recorded as unrated, never scored zero for having asked. Acknowledgement within one business day; removal within two.
